About Shear Leather

Shear Leather is a small leather jacket brand in the making. Our jackets are made with Joban International, a manufacturer in Sialkot, Pakistan, operating since 2017. Sialkot has made leather goods for generations, and we are building toward selling our own jackets to customers in the United States and Canada.

Before we sell anything, we want to be useful. Buying a leather or shearling jacket is expensive, and most of the advice online is either vague or written to push a sale. These guides explain what actually matters: which leather suits which use, how warm shearling really is, how a jacket should fit, and how to look after one so it lasts.

How we write our guides

• We describe materials and construction the way they are actually handled in a workshop: hides, cutting, stitching, linings and hardware.
• Where something depends on the specific hide or maker, we say so instead of giving a falsely precise answer.
• We update guides when we learn something new and show the date at the top of each one.
